A hope kanji print for a desk wall you look up at between tasks. The characters 希望, meaning hope, stand large and black on a cream sheet, and a red box carries the word KIBO in white. It is a short, direct message for a room where you work or rest.
About the artwork
Black, cream and a single block of red. The two characters 希望 take most of the space, bold and solid, and they mean hope. The reading KIBO appears in white letters inside a red box, which acts like a seal and gives the eye a second stop. There is no English word on this one, only the kanji and its reading, so the layout stays spare and graphic. Portrait.
Why you'll love it
- A red label instead of a seal. KIBO sits in white inside a solid red box, a stronger block of color than a small stamp.
- Hope, stated once. Two characters and their reading, nothing else, so the message stays clear.
- Good at desk height. The large black strokes stay legible from a chair, which suits an office wall.
- Easy to style around red. The red box links to a red lamp, a book spine or a rug in the same room.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
In a home office with white or light gray walls, hang it at 18" x 24" just above the monitor line so it catches your eye when you look up. A black floating frame matches the characters. In a bedroom, try it at 24" x 36" above a dresser rather than the bed, with warm wood and white bedding nearby. Pair it with a red-toned object, such as a lacquer tray or a ceramic vase, on the shelf below.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What does KIBO mean? KIBO is the reading of the characters 希望, which mean hope.
Where should I hang it in an office? Just above eye level from your chair, over or beside the desk. 18" x 24" is a comfortable size for most home offices.
Does the red match other decor easily? The red box is a single solid block, so one red object nearby, like a vase or a book, is enough to tie it in.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
