A Jackson Square New Orleans poster taken from inside the square, looking up at St. Louis Cathedral over the top of the cast-iron fence. Three slate spires rise against a deep teal sky, the Andrew Jackson statue stands in shadow at the left, and the mansard roofs of the Pontalba buildings close in on both sides.
About the artwork
Built from flat vector shapes with hard edges, softened only by long raking shadows across the facade. The colour range is tight: chalk white and pale grey on the cathedral stone, dark plum-brown slate on the three spires, a saturated teal-blue sky, two greens for the lawn and the oak canopy, and near-black for the ironwork. Small details carry the scene — the clock face and rose window on the central tower, the crosses on each spire, and the scrolled cast-iron fence drawn large in the foreground. The type reads NEW ORLEANS with LOUISIANA below it, both white. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The view visitors actually get — fence first, statue second, cathedral third, exactly how the square opens up on foot.
- Ironwork as the frame — the scrolled fence runs across the bottom third and gives the print a foreground most travel art skips.
- Late-afternoon light — the shadows fall long and hard across the white stone rather than flattening it.
- French Quarter without the crowd — the square drawn empty and quiet, which is how regulars remember it early.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The deep teal sky is the loudest colour here, so it wants a quiet wall: chalk white, warm cream or a soft grey. Black frames echo the iron fence and sharpen the whole thing, which is why the black-framed shots against the white panelled wall read cleanest. In a dining room with dark wood, the plum-brown spires tie the print back to the furniture.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The fine ironwork and the clock face hold up better at scale, so 18" x 24" is the sensible floor. Over a sofa or a sideboard, go to 24" x 36".
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship rolled and unframed. Matte canvas is stretched and ready to hang, and framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? The printed type reads NEW ORLEANS with LOUISIANA beneath it. Neither Jackson Square nor St. Louis Cathedral is named on the artwork itself.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
