A Horseshoe Bend Arizona poster from the unfenced rim above the drop: the Colorado River swinging in a deep teal curve around the freestanding sandstone butte at the centre of the meander, a thin green line of tamarisk along the water's edge, sagebrush clumps clinging to the ledge in the foreground, and flat-topped mesas fading out along the horizon.
About the artwork
Hard-edged vector shapes, no outlines, tone built by stacking flat layers on the rock faces. The palette is a straight complementary pairing — burnt orange, rust and pale apricot across the sandstone, against a saturated teal-green river. Cross-bedding in the Navajo sandstone is drawn as fine parallel striations, and the cliff shadows drop to a deep maroon rather than grey. The sky is flat cyan with a paler band at the horizon. Small dusty sage-green bushes on the left ledge are the only cool notes in the foreground. The type sits in the sky in white sans-serif capitals: HORSESHOE BEND, with a smaller, wider-tracked ARIZONA below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Orange against teal — the two colours are near-opposites, which is why the river reads so strongly from across a room.
- Rim's-eye view — the foreground ledge puts you standing on the edge rather than looking at a postcard.
- Rock drawn as rock — the cross-bedded striations and stepped ledges are specific to Navajo sandstone, not generic desert shapes.
- Big vertical drop — the 2:3 portrait format exaggerates the depth of the canyon wall on the right.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
All that orange needs a quiet wall — warm white, bone or a pale putty grey. It is at its best in a living room or a study where the teal river can be the one bright note. The terracotta wall in the photographs above ties into the sandstone almost tonally; if you want more separation, hang it on off-white with a black or espresso frame.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The river curve is bold enough to work at 12 x 18, but the sandstone striations only show properly from 18 x 27 up. Above a sofa, 24 x 36 inches is the natural size.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and rolled. Framed canvas ships stretched and framed in white, black, espresso or natural wood, with hanging hardware fitted.
What does the poster say? Two lines across the top of the sky: HORSESHOE BEND in large white capitals, with ARIZONA set smaller and wider-spaced beneath it.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
