A Gullfoss travel poster from the clifftop path: the river arriving in a broad white staircase, turning ninety degrees and disappearing into a narrow canyon, spray standing above the drop as a cloud, and green tundra rolling away flat to the horizon on either side.
About the artwork
An unusual subject to draw because the drop is hidden — the water vanishes into a slot you cannot see into, and the print makes that the point. The falling water is built from dense white and pale grey strokes with just enough blue in the shadow to keep it from going chalky, and the spray above it is drawn as a soft cumulus rather than a blur. Around it the canyon walls are laid in as horizontal basalt ledges in ochre and grey-brown, each one catching light on its upper edge. The tundra is a broad, quiet green with a scatter of darker moss, and it is what gives the print its air; without it the image would be all noise. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Iceland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A waterfall that turns a corner. Not a single drop — a staircase into a canyon.
- Green and white. Fresher and warmer than the other Iceland prints in the series.
- Space around the subject. The open tundra keeps it from feeling busy.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Green, white and stone — near enough to a neutral that it will hang almost anywhere. It works in a living room, office or dining room, and takes natural and white frames better than black, which weighs down the tundra. It is the warmest of the Iceland prints, so it is the one to pair with a colder Nordic scene rather than another green landscape.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? From the viewing path above the falls, looking down at the steps and the canyon they run into.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
