A Grand Rapids Michigan poster taken from the riverwalk, looking along a bright blue steel truss bridge as it strides across the Grand River on cut limestone piers. A leafy tree leans in from the top left, the river runs teal and green below, and downtown rises behind the trusses, led by a dark cylindrical glass tower and a taller ribbed slab.
About the artwork
Flat vector illustration with hard-edged shapes and layered flat shadows instead of blending. The palette is dominated by a single strong cerulean on the bridge steel, set against a pale aqua sky, deep teal and petrol green water, warm bone and sand limestone on the piers, and acid yellow-green in the tree canopy and the grass verge. Diagonal shadows from the bridge deck fall across the water in dark green bands. The truss is drawn member by member, with cross-bracing, a railing line and a walkway deck. Typography is thin, wide-tracked capitals reading GRAND RAPIDS with MICHIGAN beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The blue bridge carries it — one saturated cerulean structure against soft aqua and green does all the work.
- Michigan without a lake — a river city and its steelwork rather than another shoreline or lighthouse.
- Engineering drawn honestly — trusses, cross-bracing and stone pier blocks are all rendered, not simplified into a silhouette.
- Low viewpoint — taken from the path at water level, so the bridge fills the frame the way it does in person.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The blue and green here are strong, so a quiet wall serves it best. Warm white or a pale greige lets the cerulean stay the loudest thing in the room. Against the sage green wall shown with the black frame in the photographs above, the bridge and the water lock together and the whole print goes cooler. A natural oak frame picks up the sand tone in the stone piers. Good over a desk or in a living room, less so in a dim hallway.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The truss members are fine lines, so 18" x 24" is the smallest that keeps them crisp. Over a sofa, 24" x 36" or larger.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? GRAND RAPIDS across the top in wide capitals, with MICHIGAN set smaller beneath. Nothing else is printed on the artwork.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
