A grand canal venice poster taken from water level: four gondolas resting on pale teal, striped mooring poles rising in the near corner, Gothic palazzi running back along the left bank, and the low arch of the Rialto closing the view at the far end.
About the artwork
Half the sheet is water, and it is the most worked part of the design — long horizontal dashes of cream, gold and rose laid over teal, tighter and brighter where the light falls, loosening into flat colour in the shadow of the buildings. The gondolas are drawn in near-black with their brass ferro and cushions picked out, one close enough to read the seat frame, two further back, one with a standing rower reduced to a stroke. On the left the palazzi step away in warm cream, apricot, dusty pink and pale ochre: pointed arch windows, tracery, balconies, green shutters, chimney pots and terracotta roofs, each smaller than the last. The Rialto sits low in the middle distance as a pale arcaded arch with the shops along its back. The sky is a flat wash from gold to turquoise. Title in wide-tracked uppercase reading VENICE, with Italy beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Water done properly. Ripples drawn as individual marks, not a gradient, which is what gives the surface movement.
- The bridge in the distance. It anchors the view without taking it over.
- A soft, faded palette. Teal, cream and apricot only — restful in a way most Venice imagery is not.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The muted teal makes this an easy print to live with, and it reads as calm rather than busy from across a room. It suits bedrooms and quiet sitting rooms, on walls in plaster white, pale grey-green or a warm stone. Pair it with light oak, linen and aged brass. A white or natural frame keeps it airy; espresso wood gives it more weight. It hangs well with the Verona arena or Bologna prints as an Italian set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Is this the canal or the city? This one is the canal itself — the palazzi, the gondolas and the bridge from the water. The store keeps a separate Venice print for a wider view of the city.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
