A Giant's Causeway travel poster down the length of the basalt: forty thousand hexagonal columns stepping out from the headland into the Atlantic, with white surf running up between the stones and a bank of cumulus stacked on the horizon.
About the artwork
The one geometric subject in the series, and the illustration leans into it. Every column is drawn as an individual hexagon — thousands of them, tiled by hand across the right two thirds of the image so the pavement reads as an actual honeycomb surface rather than a texture fill. The palette is cold and narrow: slate blue and steel grey for the sea, ochre and umber on the sunlit column tops, and cream for the foam, which is drawn as hard-edged shapes with no soft gradient at all. Foreground boulders are given rough speckled facets to break the regularity. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Northern Ireland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Pattern and nature at once. The hexagons give it a graphic quality most landscape prints cannot reach.
- Genuinely cool-toned. Blue-grey and cream, no warm cast — the print to reach for when a room is already warm enough.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The cool palette makes this the coastal print that works in rooms where warm blues would look sweet — a bathroom, a north-facing study, a hallway with grey stone or concrete. It pairs with black metal and pale oak rather than brass. Give it enough size that the hexagons stay individually visible: at 12" x 18" the pavement starts to read as texture, which loses the whole point.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? 16" x 24" and up, so the hexagonal columns stay readable as individual stones.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Are the columns really hexagonal? Most of them, yes. The formation is cooled basalt, and the illustration keeps the irregular five and seven sided stones among the hexagons.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
