A Fly Geyser Nevada poster built around the three mineral cones that grew from a drilled well in the Black Rock Desert. Hot water still jets from their tips and runs down flanks crusted scarlet, ochre and moss green by thermophilic algae, spreading into terraced pools of milky turquoise across the desert floor.
About the artwork
Painterly digital illustration with layered, hand-worked mineral texture rather than flat vector shapes. The palette is deep petrol blue at the top of the sky, cream and dove cumulus stacked behind, brick red, rust and pumpkin on the cones, olive and emerald algae, tan and putty travertine rims, aquamarine and jade in the pools, with blue-grey ranges on the horizon and a scatter of yellow wildflowers bottom left. Thin white plumes rise from at least three vents. Type sits at the bottom in bold white sans-serif: FLY GEYSER above spaced letters reading NEVADA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Nothing else looks like it — the cones are an accident of a well left running, and the print treats them as the subject rather than a curiosity.
- Colour from biology — the reds and greens are algae, and the artwork keeps them saturated instead of muting them to rock tones.
- Terraced water — concentric turquoise pools give the lower half a pattern that holds up close.
- A Nevada scene that isn't a casino — desert basin, distant ranges, no neon.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Rust and emerald against turquoise is a loud combination, so give it a quiet wall: warm white, bone or pale putty. It lifts a neutral room fast, which is why it works above the cream sofa with terracotta cushions in the photographs above. In a bedroom, the turquoise pools echo linen in dusty blue; keep competing patterns off the same wall and let the cones carry the colour.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The algae texture on the cones rewards a larger print, so 18" x 24" upward. Over a sofa or a bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" keeps the terraced pool rims distinct.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
Can you visit it? The geyser stands on private ranch land, so it is not open to walk-up visitors. Access is by pre-booked guided tour only, which is why most people know it from photographs.
What does the poster say? The printed type reads FLY GEYSER on the first line with NEVADA in spaced white capitals underneath.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
