A Flume Gorge travel poster looking straight down the chasm in Franconia Notch. A wooden boardwalk clings to the left wall on timber posts, the brook below breaks white over dark boulders, and sheer granite walls furred with moss close in on both sides until a slot of daylight and green canopy is all that is left at the top.
About the artwork
Hard-edged vector shapes with heavy tonal layering, so the rock reads as slabs of value rather than drawn texture. The palette is narrow and deliberately damp: charcoal and blue-grey granite, moss in three greens from olive through emerald to a bright acid highlight where the sun lands, and warm tan for the boardwalk planks and rail — the only warm note in the whole print. The water is worked in white and pale mint, painted as flat interlocking shapes of foam rather than lines. Light falls from the upper centre, catching the right-hand wall. Text is at the top in white condensed capitals: FLUME GORGE, with NEW HAMPSHIRE beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A path you can walk into — the boardwalk pulls the eye up the gorge and gives the print real depth.
- Green without being a forest print — the moss does the colour work against wet grey stone.
- Movement in flat shapes — the white water is convincing while staying entirely graphic.
- For the White Mountains hiker — a specific New Hampshire walk rather than a generic mountain view.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Deep greens and wet greys make this a calm print for a room with texture — linen, wool, stone, unfinished wood. It sits comfortably on the sage wall in the photographs above, where the wall colour extends the moss. On white it becomes much sharper and more graphic. A natural oak frame echoes the boardwalk timber; black frames suit a darker hallway or stairwell, where the vertical format works well.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The tall, narrow composition suits a narrow wall. 12" x 18" works in a hallway; 24" x 36" gives the gorge walls enough height to feel enclosing.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The printed text reads FLUME GORGE across the top with NEW HAMPSHIRE beneath it. Franconia Notch is not lettered on the artwork itself.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
