A Fairbanks Alaska travel poster that looks down a long snow-covered slope, across a wide frozen river bend, to the low downtown on the far bank. Long blue shadows from unseen spruce rake across the snowfield in the foreground. Behind the town, a flat sheet of boreal forest runs to pale hills on the horizon under a clear sub-arctic sky.
About the artwork
Flat vector illustration built from hard-edged shapes and almost no outline. The palette is a near-monochrome of ice blue: cerulean sky, powder blue snow, steel blue shadow bands, chalk white highlights, with a few small warm brick-red and ochre roofs to break the cold. Downtown reads as a row of flat-roofed blocks with one taller white mid-rise tower standing above them. Fine speckled texture across the foreground snow suggests wind crust. Typography is thin, wide-tracked capitals reading FAIRBANKS with ALASKA beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A winter city, not a summer one — the interior of Alaska in deep snow, from the high ground above the river.
- Almost one colour — the whole scene works in blues, so it drops into a room without fighting anything already on the wall.
- Real geography — the frozen river bend and the flat-roofed downtown are drawn as they sit, not stylised into a generic skyline.
- Cold light — long raking shadows put the sun low, the way it is for most of a Fairbanks winter day.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The cool blues sit well against warm neutrals, so a beige or oatmeal wall keeps the print from reading as cold. A pale oak frame picks up the chalk white in the snowfield, as in the sunlit wood-panelled room in the photographs above. Against the terracotta wall shown with the black frame, the ice blue turns sharp and graphic. It suits a bedroom or a study more than a busy hallway.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Over a bed or sofa, go 24" x 36" or larger so the shadow bands in the foreground stay readable. On a shelf or console, 12" x 18" is enough.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? FAIRBANKS across the top, with ALASKA set smaller beneath it. No other text appears on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
