A Factory Butte Utah poster that puts the butte dead centre and lets the badlands do the work. A blocky sandstone caprock sits on top like a wall of masonry, and beneath it hundreds of erosion gullies fan down the grey-blue shale slopes to a cracked, almost lunar flat scattered with rust-orange gravel.
About the artwork
Painterly digital illustration with fine ridge-by-ridge detail rather than flat vector shapes. The palette is deep cobalt sky fading to pale blue at the horizon, white and shadow-grey cumulus, buff and bone caprock, slate blue-grey and dove shale, chalk-white ribs where the sun catches the gullies, and patches of rust, ochre and brick on the desert floor. There is no vegetation and no road — the whole image is rock, sky and erosion. Type sits at the bottom in bold white sans-serif: FACTORY BUTTE above spaced letters reading UTAH. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Erosion as pattern — the fluted gullies read almost like pleated fabric, which is what makes this butte photograph so well.
- Cool desert, not red rock — grey and blue shale instead of the usual Utah orange, so it pairs differently.
- One strong silhouette — a single symmetrical shape that holds a wall from across a room.
- Quiet enough for an office — muted tones with one saturated blue band at the top.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Bone, slate and cobalt make this one of the easiest prints here to place: it holds up on cool grey and crisp white walls where warmer desert art tends to clash. The corner room with the woven chair and white globe lamp in the photographs above is the right register — pale, uncluttered, natural materials. Over a desk, the rust gravel gives you a small accent to echo in a leather chair or a terracotta pot.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The gully detail is the whole point, so 18" x 24" is a sensible floor. Above a sofa or a bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" keeps the individual ribs distinct instead of blurring into grey.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The printed type reads FACTORY BUTTE on the first line with UTAH in wide-spaced capitals underneath, both in white at the base of the image.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
