An Elephant Rock Valley of Fire poster drawn from the sandy wash below the formation, looking up at the arch of eroded sandstone whose trunk-shaped span drops to the desert floor. Low creosote and brittlebush cross the middle of the frame, blue-grey boulders lie scattered across the sand, and a line of red ridges runs off to the right.
About the artwork
A screen-print style illustration built from a tight four-colour palette and dense hatched marks rather than smooth gradients. The rock is a hot vermilion and orange-red, cut through with fine darker striations that follow the bedding of the sandstone. Against it the sky is a flat, slightly dusty cyan; the shrubs and boulders are a cool blue-grey; and the wash underfoot is cream and buff, speckled with rust-red pebbles. The contrast of hot orange against cold blue-grey is the whole idea of the print. A small circular monogram sits low in the right-hand corner of the sand. Printed type reads ELEPHANT ROCK in white capitals with NEVADA letterspaced beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Two colours doing all the work — vermilion rock against blue-grey desert, with almost nothing in between.
- A print-shop look — hatched marks and flat inks that read like a hand-pulled screen print rather than a photograph.
- Unmistakable silhouette — the trunk and arch are recognisable from right across a room.
- The right Nevada — the red rock desert an hour from the city, not the neon everyone expects.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — stretched canvas in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is the boldest colour in the set, so give it a quiet wall. On the plain white wall in the photographs above the vermilion reads at full strength; against the terracotta room it becomes tonal and much softer, which some people prefer. The blue-grey shrubs mean it also sits well with denim, slate and grey-blue textiles. A black frame suits the graphic, flat-ink look better than a warm wood.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Flat, high-contrast colour carries well, so 16" x 24" is plenty for a hallway or a study. Over a sideboard, 24" x 36" lets the hatching in the rock face show as texture rather than noise.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas is stretched and set in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, with hanging hardware fitted.
What does the poster say? ELEPHANT ROCK in large white capitals with NEVADA letterspaced below. Valley of Fire, the state park the formation stands in, is not printed on the artwork.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
