A Dubrovnik travel poster from the water side: the old town packed tight inside its walls on a limestone headland, roofs running orange from one end to the other, and the Adriatic below it heaving up against the rocks in deep blue and white.
About the artwork
Painted rather than drawn — visible brushwork throughout, closest to an oil study of the three styles in the catalogue. The sea takes up nearly half the frame and carries the most work: layered strokes of cobalt, teal and near-black in the troughs, with thick opaque white dragged across the crests so the foam sits proudly on the surface. Against that, the town is handled almost dryly — a compressed band of terracotta roofs, cream render and the pale mass of the fortress wall, with the bare grey limestone of the mountain behind it. The contrast in handling is the point: still stone above, moving water below. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Croatia beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The sea is the subject. Most Dubrovnik prints shoot the roofs from above; this one gives the Adriatic equal billing.
- Warm roofs, cold water. The orange-against-blue contrast is what makes it carry across a room.
- Brushwork you can see. Texture in the print keeps it from looking like clip art on a wall.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Blue-dominant with a warm strip through the middle, so it works on cream, sand and pale sage walls and stays lively against white. It is a natural partner for another Adriatic or Aegean destination, though if you hang two sea prints together, choose one with a higher horizon so the blue masses do not line up. Espresso and black frames both sharpen it; natural oak brings out the roofs.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? From the coast west of the old town, looking back at the walled city on its headland with the mountain behind.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
