A Dinant travel poster looking down the Meuse: the collegiate church with its black bulb dome pressed against a grey limestone cliff, the citadel on the skyline above it, and small boats moored the length of the quay.
About the artwork
Three layers, stacked steeply. At the bottom the river fills the lower third, drawn in teal and deep green with short horizontal flecks of light on the ripples and a scatter of moored launches, one small sailboat among them. The middle band is the town: a tight row of tall narrow houses in brick red, ochre, cream and dark green, each with its own roof line, awnings and shuttered windows, and the church rising out of them — grey stone, a rose window, pointed gables, and that heavy black onion dome with a lantern on top. Behind and above, the cliff takes over, drawn as pale grey rock faces broken by ledges and dark scrub, with the long fortress wall and its square tower riding the top edge under a bleached sky. Warm town, cool rock, cold water. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Belgium beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The black dome. An unusual silhouette that makes this town instantly separable from every other river print.
- Vertical drama. Water, houses and cliff stacked in one narrow frame, which suits the 2:3 shape.
- Muted, filmic colour. Teal and stone grey with small hits of brick red, rather than postcard brightness.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The greens and greys make it an easy fit for a study, a library corner or a north-facing sitting room where warm prints tend to look forced. Try it on sage, deep green or warm grey walls, beside walnut, brass and old books. Black frames pick up the dome and the roofs; espresso keeps the whole thing quiet. It pairs naturally with the Grund Luxembourg print as a valley-and-river set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is on top of the cliff? The fortress that overlooks the town, drawn as a long wall and tower along the ridge above the church.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
