A Cypress Tree Tunnel poster looking straight down the avenue of Monterey cypress at Point Reyes. Two ranks of leaning trunks close overhead into a long green vault, the narrow road with its yellow centre line runs away beneath them, and at the far end the canopy opens onto a pale gold field and a small patch of sky.
About the artwork
A painterly illustration built almost entirely from line work — the bark is drawn as hundreds of fine vertical strokes in russet, copper, ochre and grey-brown, and the foliage is layered in flat clumps of olive, moss, sage and near-black shadow green. The tone stays deliberately warm and dim in the foreground so the cool pale opening at the vanishing point does the work of drawing you in. Grass verges go acid yellow-green where the light reaches them. Set in white capitals across the lower band: CYPRESS TREE TUNNEL, with CALIFORNIA below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- One-point perspective — the tunnel pulls the eye to a single bright point, which gives a wall real depth.
- Bark as texture — the trunks are the most detailed thing in the print and reward looking at close range.
- Green without being flat — five or six distinct greens in the canopy, held together by warm copper trunks.
- Coastal California away from the coast — no beach, no bridge, just a planted avenue that has become a landmark on its own.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — stretched and set in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is a deep, warm green print, so it holds up on a darker wall better than most — forest green, olive or a deep clay all work, and on warm white it reads as a window. Natural oak framing matches the copper bark, as in the room photographs above; espresso framing pushes the whole thing toward the mossy end. It suits a hallway, where the perspective can run along the direction you walk, and it sits well with linen, rattan and matt black hardware.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The perspective works at any scale, so 12" x 18" is fine in a hallway or stairwell. To see the bark line work and the separate layers of canopy, 18" x 27" and up; 24" x 36" makes it feel like an opening in the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas is a separate material option with a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Where is the Cypress Tree Tunnel? It runs along the drive to the former KPH maritime radio receiving station at Point Reyes National Seashore in Marin County, north of San Francisco. The cypresses were planted in the 1930s to shelter the station, not as a scenic feature.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
