About the artwork
A painterly illustration built from long sweeping strokes that follow the cross-bedding of the rock. Two palettes meet head on: chalk white, bone and pale grey in the slickrock rim, then a hot ramp of apricot, orange and burnt sienna inside the bowl, with deep umber in the shadowed overhang. Behind, the distance goes lilac and rose, and the sky runs from near-navy at the top to pale blue behind a tall stack of white cumulus on the right. Small sage clumps break the white rock. What size should I get? The bowl is one large shape, so 12" x 18" or 16" x 24" is enough for a desk wall or a narrow space. If you want the cross-bedding lines in the white rock to show, 18" x 27" and up, and 24" x 36" over a sofa.
Does it come framed? Paper prints and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas is a separate material option with a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Where is the Cosmic Ashtray? It lies in the Grand Staircase-Escalante backcountry in southern Utah, off Hole-in-the-Rock Road near Escalante. It is a long unmarked walk over open slickrock with no facilities, which is why it stays quiet.

Damage, defects & care
Every piece is printed for you after you order, so we cannot take a print back for a change of mind — please check the size and material first. Our Size Guide shows every size drawn to scale.
If it arrives damaged, misprinted or simply wrong, email us within 14 days with photos of the piece and the packaging. We reprint and reship it free, and there is nothing to send back.
Keep artwork out of direct sunlight. Wipe framed canvas with a dry, soft cloth. Handle paper prints by the edges until they are framed.
