A Columbus Ohio travel poster taken from the top of the amphitheatre steps on the Scioto Mile. Curved limestone terraces sweep down the left of the frame toward the green river, a white arch bridge crosses in the middle distance, and the downtown skyline stands behind it with an art deco tower at its centre.
About the artwork
Flat geometric shapes with crisp edges, closer to architectural illustration than to a woodcut poster. The palette is soft and low-contrast: a teal-blue sky washing lighter toward the horizon, jade and emerald water, mown lawn green on the banks, and warm cream limestone across the whole foreground. Long grey-violet shadows fall diagonally across the steps and do most of the compositional work, pulling the eye down the curve to the water. The skyline is drawn in dusty tan, sage and slate, with an ornate crowned tower rising above the rest and a copper-green roofed building on the right. The bridge arch is a single clean white ribbon. Type is set in white capitals reading COLUMBUS, with OHIO below it. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Shadow as structure — the raking shadows across the steps carry the composition, which is unusual in a city print.
- Green and cream, not blue and grey — a softer, warmer treatment than most skyline artwork.
- The riverfront as the subject — the park, the terraces and the water get more space than the towers.
- A quiet one — low contrast and open space make it restful enough for a bedroom or a reading corner.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — stretched canvas in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Jade water and cream stone make this the easiest of the Ohio prints to place. It is almost tonally identical to the sage wall in the photographs above, so that pairing is close to seamless; on a warm white or oatmeal wall the green comes forward instead. Natural oak framing matches the limestone; white framing keeps everything airy. It sits well in a living room with linen and pale wood, or over a desk where a louder print would be distracting.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The wide sweep of steps benefits from room, so 24" x 36" over a sofa or sideboard suits it best. At 16" x 24" it still works beside a desk or in a hallway run of prints.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The printed lettering reads COLUMBUS with OHIO underneath. The river, the bridge and the buildings are not labelled on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
