A Cobh travel poster taken from out on the harbour water: cathedral spires standing over a terrace of oxblood, mustard and slate-blue houses on the ridge, with the whole lower half of the sheet given to a moving sea.
About the artwork
Almost half the picture is water, and it is the most worked part of the drawing — short horizontal strokes in six or seven blues, pale turquoise near the quay wall deepening to cobalt in the foreground, with gold sun glints scattered across the swell as small four-point stars. Above the waterline a grey sea wall runs the full width, then a bare rock outcrop with scrub in the fissures. The terrace above is the colour event: tall Victorian houses in oxblood red, mustard, cream and blue-grey, each with bay windows, dormers and its own chimney stack picked out. Off to the left the town climbs away in paler pastels toward a small basin of masts. Over all of it the cathedral rises in cool grey-green stone, twin spires and pinnacles above a long buttressed flank, with one copper-red tree at its foot. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Ireland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Seen from the water. No quayside, no foreground clutter — the town is read the way it appears from a ship coming in.
- A cathedral out of scale with its town. The spires sit far above the roofline and give the whole composition its vertical.
- Sea that is genuinely drawn. Layered strokes and scattered glints rather than one flat block of blue.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Blue dominates, so it holds up in rooms that already have a lot of white: bathrooms, bedrooms, a landing with sea light. The red and mustard houses form one narrow warm band that picks up terracotta or brass. White frames keep it airy, black gives the spires more weight. Pair it with the Killarney lakeside print for an Irish two-up, or hang it opposite another harbour view if you want water on both walls.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What exactly is the view? The town seen from out in the harbour, with the coloured terrace along the ridge and the cathedral on the hill behind it.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
