A Clifton suspension bridge poster seen from the wooded side of the gorge: one stone pier tower standing on the cliff edge with the chains sweeping away across the void, the river winding far below between limestone crags, and the city spreading out flat and hazy beyond.
About the artwork
The frame is built diagonally. Rock and trees fill the left and bottom, drawn in layered strokes of cream, buff and grey for the limestone and three or four separate greens for the canopy, so the cliffs read as broken ledges rather than a wall. The tower sits on the very lip, a warm brick and stone block with a pointed arch through it and a small railed deck, with the roadway and its handrail running out of the left edge. From the tower top the chains and their vertical hangers stretch across the gorge and the deck narrows to a thin line, which is what gives the print its distance. Below, the river shows as a pale blue-grey band curling between the crags. Beyond the far rim the city is drawn in soft blue-grey blocks under white cumulus. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with England beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Height you can feel. The drop from the tower to the river is the whole idea of the picture.
- Sage, cream and teal. A muted, slightly faded palette that behaves like a vintage print rather than a photograph.
- Engineering plus landscape. Chains and stonework set against cliffs and woodland in one frame.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The greens are soft and dusty, so this sits comfortably on white, stone, sage or muted blue walls without competing. It works beside oak, rattan and wool, and suits a study, landing or hallway where an upright view of a gorge has room to breathe. Natural oak frames keep the muted feel; black frames make the chains and the tower read harder. Hang it with the other English landmark and coast prints.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What wording is printed on the poster? The design reads BRISTOL above ENGLAND; the Clifton Suspension Bridge over the Avon Gorge is the subject of the view.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
