An Orlando travel poster caught at the moment the fireworks break: a floodlit stone castle standing over a black lagoon, gold and cream bursts opening across a midnight sky, and the whole scene doubled in the still water below.
About the artwork
Drawn in the language of the classic night travel poster — dense flat colour rather than photographic light, with every spark rendered as a drawn line. The palette holds to four notes: indigo and near-black for the sky and the lagoon, warm gold for the fireworks and the floodlighting, pale grey-blue for the stone, and slate blue for the conical roofs. Dark cypress and oak silhouettes frame both edges and pull the eye down the central spire. The reflection is not a mirror copy: the water breaks it into horizontal ripples so the gold scatters. The title runs in wide-tracked uppercase across the sky with Florida beneath, and the image sits inside a thin white margin. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A night print that still reads on a dark wall. The gold is bright enough to hold against navy, charcoal or deep green paint, where most travel prints disappear.
- The reflection does the work. The lower half is almost abstract — ripples of gold and blue — so it carries a large size without feeling busy.
- Built for a child's room that will outgrow cartoons. The castle is drawn as architecture, not as a character, so it keeps working past age ten.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is one of the few prints in the series that gains from a dark room rather than a bright one. On a navy or forest-green wall the gold lifts off the paper; on white it reads cooler and more graphic. The gold frame in the arched niche shown above suits it better than oak, because the metal picks up the fireworks. In a bedroom, hang it above the headboard at 24" x 36" so the reflection sits at eye level from the bed. Keep warm lamplight nearby rather than overhead downlights, which flatten the indigo.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What does the poster say? The lettering reads ORLANDO across the top with FLORIDA beneath it. No other text appears on the artwork.
What size should I get? Above a dresser or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a bed or sofa, go 24" x 36" or larger so the fireworks hold the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
