A Caumsett State Park Long Island poster taken from the top of the meadow: one broad shade tree standing alone on the crest, mown grass falling away in long curved bands, hedgerows and copses breaking up the fields, and the blue water of Long Island Sound behind, with small white estate buildings and a wooded far shore.
About the artwork
Painted illustration with soft modelled light rather than flat vector blocks — the tree canopy is built from thousands of small leaf marks and the mown fields are laid in as pale banded stripes. The palette is layered green, from bright meadow lime through olive and moss to near-black in the shadowed hedgerows, set against powder blue water and a graded blue sky with cream cloud shelves. Wheat-coloured grass runs across the bottom corner. The type reads CAUMSETT STATE / HISTORIC PARK PRESERVE in white capitals, with STATE PARK • NEW YORK beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A green New York, not a skyline — this is the north shore of Long Island, all meadow and Sound, with no city in sight.
- One tree carries the composition — the specimen hardwood on the ridge gives the print a clear, calm focal point.
- Layered depth — grass, hedgerow, field, water and far shore stack into five clear bands from bottom to top.
- For anyone who walks it — the loop trail across these fields at Lloyd Neck is the view this print is built on.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
All those greens read well on warm white, cream or pale sage walls, and the powder blue of the Sound keeps it from feeling heavy. Natural oak or white frames suit it best; black can be too hard against the soft meadow light. It settles nicely above a cream sofa or a bench in an entryway, as in the bench and sheer-curtain shot above, where houseplants pick up the foliage.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The field banding and distant shoreline reward scale, so 24" x 36" is the sweet spot over furniture. In a hallway or stairwell, 16" x 24" still holds the tree clearly.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, wired and ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The full park name, CAUMSETT STATE HISTORIC PARK PRESERVE, set over two lines, with STATE PARK • NEW YORK in a smaller line below it.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
