A Cascais travel poster from the rocks at one end of the bay: gold sand and thin foam in the corner, water running from clear turquoise to deep blue, small red fishing boats at anchor, and the town's terracotta roofs across the water.
About the artwork
The bay is built as a set of colour bands rather than one blue. Nearest the sand it is pale aqua with the ripple pattern scratched in as fine white lines; further out it deepens to teal, then to a flat mid-blue flecked with light where the sun catches the chop. Two open boats ride in the middle of that water, hulls red above and blue below, one with a slim mast, their reflections broken into short dashes. Beyond them a line of larger working boats is moored close to the far shore. That shore is the town: cream walls, terracotta roofs, dark palms, a tall pale tower with a slate spire on the left, a low fortress wall along the water and tiny figures on the promenade. The bottom corner stays warm, dry gold sand and a shelf of layered rock. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Portugal beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Water you can see through. The shallows are drawn clear enough to show the sand bed under them.
- Red boats on turquoise. Two small hot accents in a cool field, which gives the print its snap.
- A whole town behind. Rooftops, palms, tower and sea wall, drawn small but drawn properly.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Bright and holiday-coloured without being loud, so it works over a sideboard, in a bathroom or in a child's room as easily as in a living room. Try it on white, sand or pale aqua walls, next to rattan, pale oak and white ceramic. A white frame keeps it airy, oak warms the sand, black picks up the boats. It pairs neatly with the Praia da Marinha or Cabo da Roca prints.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the tower on the left? A tall pale bell tower with a dark slate spire, standing above the seafront buildings on the far side of the bay.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
