A Cape Hatteras lighthouse poster seen from the dune line. The black and white spiral tower rises on a red brick base with the double-gabled keeper's house at its foot, sea oats bend in the wind across the whole foreground, and the Atlantic pushes a line of breakers onto the beach on the right.
About the artwork
Flat vector illustration with fine engraved line work through the grass and sand. The palette is a clean two-part scheme: teal and steel blue in the sky and ocean, warm gold, ochre and sand tan across the dunes. The tower carries its diagonal black and white barber stripe, a red gallery railing and a black lantern room; red brick shows at the base and in the chimneys of the slate-blue keeper's house. Sea oat heads are drawn seed by seed, the dune shadows fall in blue-grey diagonals, and the surf breaks in cream and white crests. Type is a white sans serif reading OUTER BANKS over NORTH CAROLINA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The tallest brick lighthouse in the country — drawn at its real proportion, dominating the dune rather than sitting politely in the middle.
- Grass in the foreground — most of the lower half is sea oats, which makes it a beach print as much as a lighthouse print.
- Gold against teal — warm dune and cool ocean, a two-colour contrast that carries across a room.
- Keeper's house included — the gables, chimneys and windows are drawn, not implied.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Gold sea oats against teal is warm enough for a living room and calm enough for a bedroom. It sits well on the beige wall in the photographs above, and on cream, warm white or a soft clay tone. Against oak or rattan the dune colours read as a continuation of the room. A natural wood frame suits it; espresso works if the room runs darker.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The grass detail is very fine, so avoid the smallest sizes if you want it. 20" x 30" or 24" x 36" over a bed or sofa; 12" x 18" for a gallery wall.
Does it come framed? Paper arrives rolled and unframed. Matte canvas is stretched and ready to hang. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? The printed type reads OUTER BANKS with NORTH CAROLINA beneath it. Cape Hatteras is not named on the artwork itself.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
