A Cabo da Roca poster from the clifftop at the western edge of the continent: a carpet of red and green ice plant in front, Atlantic surf unrolling around the stacks below, and the red-topped lighthouse on the ochre headland.
About the artwork
The picture steps away from you in three shelves. The bottom third is ground cover drawn leaf by leaf, thick succulent fingers tipped crimson and rust over olive, with pale limestone boulders pushing through. Above it the sea does the work: navy offshore, teal in the shallows, surf laid down as long overlapping ribbons of cream that wrap around the low black rocks and the pointed stack off the cape. The right side is a wall of cliff in warm ochre and grey, cut into faceted planes with violet shadow in the clefts, and on its rim the lighthouse with its red lantern and the keeper's houses under red tile. A far headland fades into pale blue haze. Hard-edged flat colour throughout, no outlines, so the drawing is done by where one tone stops. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Portugal beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The edge of a continent. Cliff, surf and lighthouse in one frame, with nothing beyond but ocean.
- Foreground worth standing close to. The ice plant is drawn strand by strand.
- Crimson against deep blue. A warm base under a cool distance, so it holds its shape across a room.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Windswept rather than sunny, so it settles into a hallway, study or a bedroom on the shaded side of the house. Chalk white, soft grey and pale blue walls suit it, and it sits well with linen, weathered wood and brushed steel. A black frame sharpens the sea; natural oak warms the cliff instead. It hangs neatly next to the Praia da Marinha or Cascais prints as a Portuguese coast group.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the red and green ground cover? Ice plant, the low succulent that spreads over Atlantic cliff tops, drawn across the bottom third and turning crimson where the sun reaches it.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
