A Burney Falls California poster from the pool at the base of the falls. Two main curtains drop over the lip, but the wall on either side is running too — dozens of separate spring seeps push straight out of the porous rock face and fall through green moss. Below, a turquoise plunge pool. A single tall conifer trunk stands in the right foreground, close enough to touch.
About the artwork
Painted in worked layers rather than flat vector shapes. The water is drawn as hundreds of individual white threads, heavier and more opaque in the two central curtains, thinning to fine lace where the springs emerge across the cliff. The palette is cool and saturated: white and pale grey water, a turquoise pool that deepens to teal in the shade, and a green range that runs from bright sunlit moss on the rock face through mid-olive brush to near-black in the fir canopy. Warm rust and ochre basalt breaks through the greenery at the top of the cliff and along the right bank. Cream cumulus sits over a small patch of blue at the top edge. Lettering is set across the bottom in white condensed capitals: BURNEY FALLS, with CALIFORNIA spaced beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The springs are the point — most of this water never goes over the lip, it comes out of the cliff itself, and the print shows that clearly.
- It runs the same all year — fed by groundwater, so this is the falls at full flow rather than a spring-melt one-off.
- Depth in the greens — five or six distinct greens keep the forest from flattening into one mass.
- A calm subject — turquoise and moss, no hot colours anywhere, which is why it works in a bedroom.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Cool greens and turquoise settle best on a soft white, pale sage or mushroom wall — avoid a strong warm beige, which fights the pool. White and natural frames both keep it airy. It is a good bedroom print for that reason, and the sideboard-and-linen setting in the photographs above shows how quiet it stays next to neutral bedding.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The fine water threads across the cliff face need room, so 24" x 36" or larger above a bed or sofa. Below 16" x 24" the side springs start to blend into the moss.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and rolled. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang in white, black, espresso or natural.
Where exactly is this? Burney Falls sits in McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park in Shasta County, in the Shasta Cascade region of northern California. The poster carries only the falls name and the state.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
