A Bruges travel poster of a quiet canal in winter: stepped brick gables running down the left bank, a red and white boat moored at the near corner, two swans on the water, and the spire of the Church of Our Lady closing the view.
About the artwork
Cooler and softer than the rest of the series. The palette works in brick red and cream against slate blue-green water, under a grey-white sky with real cloud modelling rather than flat shapes. Bare winter branches reach in from the top right and are drawn as fine linework — the most delicate mark-making in the collection. Each gable steps differently and the shutters and doorways are picked out individually, so the terrace reads as a street rather than a texture. The water is worked in short horizontal strokes that break the reflection without erasing it. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Belgium beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Calm rather than bright. A travel print that lowers the temperature of a room instead of raising it — unusual, and useful in a bedroom.
- The swans give it a focal point. Two small white shapes on dark water pull the eye straight to the centre.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The muted blue-green makes this the one print in the series that works on a cool wall — pale grey, soft blue, or white with a cool cast. It is a natural bedroom piece, and it pairs well with linen and unlacquered brass. In a dark espresso frame the brick reds deepen and it turns almost Flemish; in white it stays light and graphic. Hang it where there is soft daylight, since the cloud modelling flattens under warm artificial light.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Which frame suits it best? Espresso deepens the brick tones; white keeps it light. Both work — it depends whether you want the print to recede or step forward.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
