A Brandenburg Gate travel poster seen from above the square: the sandstone gate square-on with its bronze quadriga on the roofline, flanking colonnaded pavilions on either side, the Tiergarten piling up green behind it, and the paving below scattered with hundreds of people throwing long afternoon shadows.
About the artwork
An elevated three-quarter view, drawn in an unusually soft palette for a city print — cream and pale sand for the stone, sage and olive for the trees, chalk blue for the sky, with the only strong darks in the bronze horses and the window openings. Two things carry it. First, the crowd: every figure is a separate mark with its own shadow, and the shadows all run the same way, which is what makes the square read as sunlit stone rather than blank paper. Second, the columns — twelve of them across the gate, each modelled with a lit and a shaded face so the colonnade has real depth instead of stripes. Behind the trees the city flattens into a pale band. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Germany beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A soft palette for a hard subject. Cream and sage rather than the usual grey-and-black city treatment.
- The crowd gives it scale. You can see how big the gate is because of the people at its feet.
- Green and stone. The Tiergarten keeps the print from feeling like pure architecture.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
One of the quietest prints in the series — nothing in it is saturated, so it will sit on almost any wall without competing. It suits a study, a bedroom or a hallway, and takes a black frame well because the image supplies so little contrast of its own. It pairs cleanly with another pale European cityscape; avoid hanging it beside a strong blue or terracotta print, which will drain it.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? Looking down over the square at the gate, with the park and the western skyline behind it.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
