A Blue Lagoon travel poster from the lava field: milky turquoise water winding away between low black outcrops, a jagged shore of broken basalt filling the left of the frame, and a bank of tall white cumulus stacked along the horizon under a cool blue sky.
About the artwork
Two textures doing all the work. The lava is drawn with a hard scratched line — every block faceted, every crack picked out in near-black against grey and warm brown, so the rock reads as sharp and recent rather than weathered. The water is its exact opposite: flat, opaque and pale, a milky mineral turquoise with no transparency at all, broken only by fine pale scratches of light on the surface. That contrast between razor-edged rock and blank still water is the entire idea of the image, and it is why the print reads from across a room. The clouds are given the same scratched treatment as the lava, which ties the top of the frame to the bottom. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Iceland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A blue you do not see anywhere else. Opaque mineral turquoise, not sea blue.
- Rock against water. Sharp black lava beside flat still water — maximum contrast of texture, minimum of colour.
- Cool and quiet. Three colours total, all cold, which makes it genuinely restful.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
A bathroom print in the best sense — the palette suits tile, stone and white porcelain — and equally at home in a bedroom or a spa-like corner. It needs a warm room around it or it can read cold: cream, oatmeal or pale wood rather than grey. Natural and white frames suit it best. It pairs well with the Kirkjufell print for a two-piece Iceland wall.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? From the lava shore looking along the water as it winds between the rock.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
