A Berat travel poster of the town of a thousand windows: white Ottoman houses stacked in tiers up a steep hillside under the ruined castle walls on the crest, with the turquoise river running across the bottom of the sheet.
About the artwork
The hill is drawn house by house, and the detail is the point. Each dwelling is a white or cream box with a heavy overhanging roof of brown pantiles and a long horizontal run of windows across its upper storey, so the whole slope reads as a grid of dark rectangles on white, tilting and stepping as it climbs. Between them are cypress and fig trees, garden walls, and short flights of stone steps. Higher up the buildings thin out and bare limestone breaks through in warm cream and grey facets, and on the ridge sit the castle ruins, a square tower and broken curtain walls with pines growing through them. At the foot of the town a stone embankment holds back the river, its lower courses drawn block by block. The water is a flat, saturated turquoise, streaked with gold sparkle, and pale rocks fill the bottom left corner. Cream, terracotta and turquoise, with a hard blue sky above. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Albania beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- All those windows. The stacked facades give the print a texture you can read for a long time.
- Turquoise against cream. A warm-and-cool pairing that lifts a plain wall without shouting.
- A castle on the skyline. The ruin gives the composition a top edge and a story.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Sun-warmed and stony, so it belongs where the light is good: a living room, a dining wall, a bright landing. Cream, sand, warm white and pale olive walls all work, as do terracotta pots, rattan and older wood. Natural oak picks up the roof tiles; a warm walnut frame deepens the whole thing. It hangs well beside the Gjirokaster or Ohrid prints if you want a Balkan grouping that shares the same stone and tile palette.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the ruin at the top? The hilltop fortress walls above the town, drawn as a square tower and broken ramparts with trees growing out of them.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
