A Santa Cruz boardwalk poster taken from the cliff above the beach, looking back along the shore. The amusement pier and its wooden roller coaster sit in the middle distance under a row of palms, a long apricot beach curves down the left side with small figures on the sand, and the right half of the frame is Monterey Bay coming in as line after line of white surf.
About the artwork
Hard-edged vector shapes for the buildings and the coaster, then fine repeated line work for the breaking waves, which is where most of the detail sits. The colour splits warm against cool: apricot, honey and pale gold on the sand, scarlet and cobalt on the boardwalk buildings, a teal dome on the pavilion, dark pine green on the headland, and a full range of aquamarine, turquoise and deep petrol blue in the water under a bleached aqua sky. The title is set in white capitals reading SANTA CRUZ, with CALIFORNIA below it. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The coaster is in the frame — the white and red wooden track is unmistakable, and it is the detail people who grew up here look for first.
- Warm sand, cold water — the apricot beach against turquoise surf is what gives this print its punch on a wall.
- Wave detail — six or seven distinct sets of surf, drawn line by line rather than blocked in.
- Northern California, not the highway — a beach-town scene rather than another cliff-road view of the coast.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is a warm print despite all the blue, because the sand takes up half the frame. It sits well on cream, sand and warm white walls, and the terracotta room in the photographs above is a strong match for the apricot beach and the red buildings. Natural oak framing keeps it sunny; black framing turns the turquoise sharper if you prefer more contrast.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The boardwalk sits high in the composition and is fairly small, so 18" x 24" upward is best if you want to pick out the coaster and the pavilion dome.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed. Canvas is available stretched, or in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? Only SANTA CRUZ with CALIFORNIA underneath. The boardwalk itself is not named in the printed text.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
