A Bangor, Maine travel poster shot from the lawn looking up at the city's giant lumberjack. The Paul Bunyan statue stands with an axe over one shoulder and a long peavey pole planted in the grass, in a red and green plaid shirt, blue jeans turned up over brown boots. Behind him a row of downtown brick blocks and a fringe of spruce close the horizon.
About the artwork
Vector illustration with smooth gradient shading rather than flat blocks, so the figure has real modelling in the sleeves, beard and boot leather. The colours are summer bright: a graded turquoise-to-pale sky, crimson and forest green plaid, teal denim, tan on the axe handle, and a foreground of two-tone mown lawn with the mower stripes visible. Bangor's red-brick main street and slim black lamp posts sit small at the base, which makes the statue read as enormous. Type is white: BANGOR with MAINE spaced beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A landmark with a personality — few city prints have a towering lumberjack looking down at you.
- Worm's-eye composition — the low viewpoint gives the print presence that a skyline never manages.
- Plaid as the colour scheme — red and green run through the whole design, tied together by the lawn.
- Roadside Americana done straight — affectionate rather than kitsch, and instantly recognisable to anyone from Penobscot County.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — stretched canvas in a solid wood floating frame, in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Bright green and red make this a cheerful print, better suited to a den, playroom or cabin than a formal sitting room. It works well on the sage green wall in the photographs above, which picks up the lawn and calms the plaid down. On white it stays loud and fun. Natural oak or a plain black frame both suit it; skip gold.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The figure fills the frame, so it holds up small. 12" x 18" works on a shelf, 18" x 24" or 24" x 36" on a wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame, wired and ready to hang.
What does the poster say? BANGOR at the top with MAINE spaced out beneath. There is no lettering on the statue or the buildings.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
