An Avila travel poster taken from the dry slope outside the walls: the long granite curtain wall with its round towers running clear across the middle of the sheet, the rooftops and church towers of the old town behind it, and the snow-topped sierra beyond.
About the artwork
Three horizontal bands, warm at the bottom and cool at the top. The foreground is a slope of golden grass drawn in fine upright strokes, with grey granite boulders scattered across it, rust-coloured shrubs and a few thin autumn trees; the low sun rakes over it so every rock throws a long shadow. The wall is the middle band and the spine of the whole design: a continuous run of pale stone curtain punctuated by regular semicircular towers, each crenellated, the lit faces almost cream and the shaded ones a cool grey-brown. Behind it the town shows only as terracotta roofs and two square church towers with open belfries. The top band is mountain, a long blue-grey ridge with snow lying along the summits and a flat plain running away to the left, all of it under a deep and cloudless blue. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Spain beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The wall runs the full width. Tower after tower across the middle of the sheet, which is what makes the design read instantly.
- Gold, stone and blue. Warm ground, pale wall, cold mountains: three bands and no clutter.
- Late light. Long shadows on the slope and warm faces on the towers place it near the end of the day.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Warm and earthy, so it works on cream, clay and soft ochre walls and sits well with leather, terracotta, wool and dark wood. Walnut and espresso frames follow the rooftops, while a black frame gives the deep sky more weight. It hangs well with the Burgos or Picos de Europa prints for a Spanish wall, and beside the Sounion print if you like the same warm-ground, cold-sky structure.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What are the towers along the wall? The semicircular bastions set at regular intervals along the medieval curtain wall that still rings the old town.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
