An Alaska state flower print issued as a 1¢ stamp that never existed: ALASKA struck across the top in worn letterpress, a spray of forget-me-nots engraved at the centre, and The Last Frontier set below the frame.
About the artwork
Ink blue on a dusty sky-blue ground, a single colour throughout. Two coiled sprays carry roughly fifteen tiny five-petal flowers with dotted centres, rising above long strap-like basal leaves — the loose, nodding habit that makes a forget-me-not read at a glance even in line. A fern ornament fills the lower-left corner and the 1¢ denomination sits in a circle opposite. The perforated edge is drawn as real die-cut scallops on a plain cream sheet, so the stamp sits on the page as an object. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The coolest ink in the series. Blue on blue, so it reads as a calm neutral rather than a colour statement.
- It says Alaska without a mountain or a bear. The Last Frontier line carries the state quietly.
- Built as a set of fifty. Every state shares the same frame, denomination and typography, so any combination lines up.
- A gift for someone who lived up there. Home state on the wall, without souvenir kitsch.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is the one to reach for in a cool room. Blue on blue holds its own against white plaster, pale grey and greige where the warmer states in the series would fight, and it is the easiest of the fifty to hang in a bedroom because nothing in it is loud. Over a white-painted dresser at 16" x 24" it stays quiet; at 24" x 36" above a headboard it becomes the only thing the wall needs. If you are pairing states, put it beside Texas or Mississippi so the blues build a run rather than a clash.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console, desk or shelf, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Can I collect more than one state? Yes. All fifty share one format and one denomination, so any combination hangs as a matched set.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Damage, defects & care
Every piece is printed for you after you order, so we cannot take a print back for a change of mind — please check the size and material first. Our Size Guide shows every size drawn to scale.
If it arrives damaged, misprinted or simply wrong, email us within 14 days with photos of the piece and the packaging. We reprint and reship it free, and there is nothing to send back.
Keep artwork out of direct sunlight. Dust paper prints with a clean, dry cloth; wipe canvas and framed canvas gently with a clean, damp cloth. Handle paper prints by the edges until they are framed. More care tips are in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
