This Xi'an watercolor print shows the seven-story Giant Wild Goose Pagoda rising behind the halls of Da Ci'en Temple, with the stepped fountain of the North Square in front. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Xi'an, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines define the brick tiers of the pagoda, the temple's tile roofs and the carved stone railings, while the fountain jets are left as white paper. Tang-style beige-brown brick, willow and pine greens and vermilion columns set the palette, with pool blue and an orange-red kite as accents. The pagoda stands at center with its tip in the upper third, gray-roofed halls with red columns line the middle ground, and a paved square leads in from the front. Weeping willows and stone railings frame the left, while city towers and faint hills sit behind. "XI’AN" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Kite-flying pair. An older man flies an orange-red kite with a small child.
- Terraced fountain. Water jets leap from a stepped pool in the square.
- Willow framing. Soft yellow-green willows drape over the stone railing.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Warm beige and vermilion work well in a living room, office or hallway with terracotta, brass or dark wood. Give it to a history lover, a student who studied in Xi'an, or a family with roots in the city.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Xi'an? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the pagoda and temple grounds. The skyline behind is simplified, and the layout is arranged for the print.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "XI’AN," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
