This Three Sisters Blue Mountains poster looks out from a sandstone ledge to the three weathered rock pillars standing clear of the escarpment, lit gold by low sun. Behind them a wide valley recedes in flat bands of blue haze, and eucalyptus branches lean in from both top corners to frame the view.
About the artwork
The design is a flat vector travel-poster illustration that builds depth by stacking cool, progressively paler blues into the distance while keeping the foreground warm. Sunlit sandstone is drawn in apricot, honey and pale gold with hard-edged shadow, the forested slopes sit in slate and dusty blue, and the far ridgeline fades almost to the sky's soft cerulean. Olive-green gum leaves and a thin band of cloud break the top edge. Type is set across the sky, reading BLUE MOUNTAINS above AUSTRALIA in spaced sans-serif capitals. A thin white margin surrounds the image. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Three pillars, one clean silhouette. The rock formation is placed just above centre with open valley behind it, so its outline stays crisp at any size.
- Real golden-hour colour. Warm apricot cliffs against cool blue distance give the print natural contrast without any hard black.
- Framed by gum leaves. Eucalyptus branches at the top corners create a window effect and make the view feel like a lookout rather than a postcard.
- Layered horizon. Four or five bands of receding ridgeline give a genuine sense of distance across the valley.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The apricot and slate-blue pairing is forgiving, so this one sits happily on warm white, sand, clay or a muted denim-blue wall. Natural oak and honey timber frames pick up the sunlit sandstone; a white frame keeps it airy in a bright room. It suits a bedroom above a low headboard, a landing where the framing branches feel like a window, or a reading corner with a tan leather chair, wool throws and unglazed terracotta.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The layered ridgelines open up with scale, so 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" is ideal above a bed or sofa. For a landing or narrow wall, 18" x 24" fits well, and A3 suits a shelf or desk.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas arrive unframed. Framed canvas ships in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Why does the poster say Blue Mountains rather than Three Sisters? The printed type names the wider region, which is how the original travel-poster layout was designed. The rock formation itself is the subject of the illustration.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Matte canvas
