Shibuya Crossing wall art taken from street level, low enough that the painted stripes fan out across the bottom two thirds of the frame while the crowd banks up on the far kerb under Tokyo's billboards.
About the artwork
An unusual composition for a city print: the road surface is the subject. Cream zebra stripes radiate from the viewer across grey asphalt flecked with blue, and the crowd is reduced to a dense horizontal band rather than individual figures. Behind it the buildings are drawn in flat planes with red, yellow and white signage blocks and a glass tower catching the light. The sky is a single sheet of strong cobalt blue.
Why you'll love it
- A street-level angle almost no other Tokyo print uses.
- Big graphic shapes that hold up printed large on canvas.
- Cobalt blue and cream — clean, modern, not a nostalgic sepia city print.
- Reads as abstract geometry from a distance and as Shibuya up close.
Where it works at home
This one wants a modern room: white walls, black metal, concrete or pale oak. It is the piece to hang in a home office or a hallway where you want energy rather than calm, and it scales well — at 24 x 36 inches the stripes become a graphic device in their own right. Keep it away from busy wallpaper; it needs plain wall around it.
Sizes and materials
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Thirteen sizes are available, from 8 x 12 inches up to a 30 x 40 inch statement piece, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. Every piece is made to order.
Shipping and care
Each piece is printed and finished after the order is placed, then shipped in protective packaging — paper prints rolled in a rigid tube, canvas and framed canvas boxed with corner guards. Keep the artwork out of direct sunlight and wipe framed canvas with a dry, soft cloth. Paper prints are best handled by the edges until they are framed.
Questions
Which material should I choose? Paper is the most affordable option and lets you pick your own frame. Matte canvas adds depth and needs no glass. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang and is the usual choice for a feature wall.
Will the colours match what I see on screen? Printing is colour-managed, so the artwork stays very close to the preview. Paper reads slightly softer than canvas, which holds a touch more contrast.
How does this differ from the other Tokyo print? This is the scramble crossing at street level. The other Tokyo piece in the series shows Tokyo Tower seen over the treetops from a park.
