This Sayulita watercolor print looks down a cobbled lane of pink, ochre and turquoise houses strung with papel picado banners, toward the surf beach. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the beach village, not an exact view.
About the artwork
The papel picado banners are painted in flat bright colors with simple patterns left as bare paper, with no lettering. Stucco walls are washed in pink, ochre and turquoise, bougainvillea is dotted in magenta, and the cobbles are grey-violet. The left edge breaks into pink and violet with long drips. The palette is bougainvillea magenta, ochre, turquoise and Pacific blue, with orange, purple and green banners. Colorful houses with balconies and tile roofs line both sides, the banners stretch across the middle of the lane, and the crescent beach with white surf and green hills fills the background. The cobbled street and potted plants make up the foreground in the warm dry season. "SAYULITA" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Papel picado banners. Rows of bright cut-paper flags hang over the street.
- Surfers heading down. People carry surfboards toward the waves at the end of the lane.
- Street stalls. Stalls with woven textiles and straw hats line the sidewalk.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Hot pink, ochre and turquoise give energy to a kitchen, a dining nook or an eclectic living room. It is a great gift for a surfer, a yoga retreat friend, or anyone who fell for the Riviera Nayarit.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Sayulita? No. It is an artistic interpretation of a street in Sayulita, and the houses, banners and stalls are painted freely.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "SAYULITA," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
