This San Sebastian watercolor print looks down from Monte Igueldo over the curve of La Concha Bay to Santa Clara Island and Monte Urgull. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of San Sebastian, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The bay shifts from turquoise and emerald to deep blue, with breaking waves left as white paper and sand in thin golden washes. Fine ink lines pick out the Belle Époque buildings along the shore. Emerald water and golden sand lead the palette, with green hills, a red funicular car and pink flowers in the left corner. The shell-shaped beach curves from the lower left toward the center, Santa Clara Island and its white lighthouse sit on the right, and the Sacred Heart statue tops Monte Urgull in the upper right, with the spire of Buen Pastor Cathedral among the rooftops. A wooded slope, a white railing and the Monte Igueldo funicular fill the left foreground, and a long yellow-green drip runs down the left edge in late summer. "SAN SEBASTIAN" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Vintage red funicular. An old red funicular car climbs the hillside in the foreground.
- Sailboats at anchor. Dozens of white sailboats rest in the calm bay.
- Beach day details. Swimmers on the sand and a lamp-lit white railing add summer charm.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The emerald and sand tones suit a coastal bedroom, a sunroom or a bathroom with light wood. It is a great gift for anyone who spent a summer on the Basque coast.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of San Sebastian? No. It is an artistic interpretation of San Sebastian. A few small details, like the stone pier near the island, are added or simplified for the painting.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "SAN SEBASTIAN," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
