This Rotterdam watercolor print shows the white Erasmus Bridge with its cables fanning to the left, the stacked glass blocks of De Rotterdam and the Kop van Zuid skyline across the Maas River. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Rotterdam, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines draw the thin bridge cables and the glass grids of the towers. The white pylon is bare paper with gray-blue shading, and the Maas is laid in blue-gray horizontal strokes with bright streaks. Bridge white, river blue-gray and tower glass lead the palette, with rust-brown warehouse brick, gold-orange autumn trees, a yellow water taxi and a Dutch flag. The bridge pylon stands right of center, and the stone Willemskade quay with bollards, lamps and a moored barge fills the foreground. A long yellow-brown and orange drip runs down the left edge. "ROTTERDAM" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Yellow water taxi. A yellow water taxi speeds across the Maas.
- Working river. A long cargo barge passes while an old barge flies a Dutch flag at the quay.
- Modern harbor city. Steel, glass and red-brick warehouses show Rotterdam's modern side.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Gray-blue and white with rust accents suit a modern living room, loft or office with black metal and concrete tones. It is a great gift for an architecture fan or someone who works in the port city.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Rotterdam? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Rotterdam, and some shapes, like the bridge pylon, are simplified while still easy to recognize.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "ROTTERDAM," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
