This Portland watercolor print shows the green St. Johns Bridge stretching over the Willamette River, seen from the lawns of Cathedral Park. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Portland, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines detail the pointed Gothic steel towers, the suspension cables and the deck trusses. The concrete approach arches are left light and beige, the wooded hills are layered in clear blue-gray greens, and the river is drawn in horizontal strokes with reflections. The palette is verdigris bridge green and deep evergreen forest with river blue, accented by pink roses, red warehouse brick and red and yellow kayaks. The near tower stands just left of center, the deck runs diagonally to the far tower, and the Gothic concrete arches sit on the left. Brick warehouses and a wooden pier fill the middle ground, Forest Park rolls behind, and the foreground is park lawn with a lamp-lined path and a small beach with driftwood in early summer. "PORTLAND" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Kayaks and a tug. Three kayaks and a small tugboat move along the river.
- Picnic on the lawn. A family picnics on the grass while someone rests on a bench.
- Roses in bloom. A blooming rose bush fills the lower left corner.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Deep greens and soft blues ground a living room, a home office or a cabin-style bedroom with wood and linen. It is a fitting gift for a Portlander who moved away or a friend who loves the Pacific Northwest.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Portland? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Portland, and the bridge towers are placed slightly off center for the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "PORTLAND," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
