This Point Lobos State Natural Reserve watercolor print shows a twisted Monterey cypress leaning out over the water above Headland Cove. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the California coast, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines trace the twisting cypress trunk and the grain of the granite, while the cove is layered in clear turquoise and blue washes with rings around a floating otter. The cypress fills the right half, clinging to a granite point, looking north from the Cypress Grove Trail. Rocky outcrops and more cypress line the cove in the middle ground, and Carmel Bay and the far wooded shore sit in the background. A sandy trail with rope posts, wildflowers and lichen-covered rock forms the foreground. Pale purple wildflowers mark early spring, and the left and bottom edges melt into blue, grey and violet washes with drips. "POINT LOBOS" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Sea otter. A sea otter floats on its back in the cove, circled by small ripples.
- Cormorant rock. A group of black cormorants sits on a rocky outcrop in the water.
- Wind-shaped cypress. The gnarled trunk and flat dark canopy lean toward the sea.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.

- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Turquoise, deep green and granite grey suit a coastal living room, a bathroom or a bedroom with blue and white textiles. Give it to someone who loves the Monterey coast or a couple who honeymooned near Carmel Bay.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Point Lobos State Natural Reserve? No. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Point Lobos. Some of the wildlife and shoreline details are simplified for the painting.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "POINT LOBOS," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
