This Petoskey watercolor print shows the small red breakwater light at the end of its stone breakwall, looking north over Little Traverse Bay from the bluff above Bayfront Park. It is a watercolor-style interpretation of the northern Michigan town, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Transparent layers build the autumn maples, and fine brown ink picks out iron railings, stone posts, boats and a park gazebo. The red cylindrical light stands at the end of the breakwall on the middle right with people walking out toward it, while the Petoskey marina fills the middle left with white boats. The shoreline curves around the bay toward low wooded hills dotted with fall color. Deep blue water leads the palette, mixed with orange, gold and red maples and the green lawns of Bayfront Park. Soft drips and orange and blue splatter break up the left and bottom edges against the white paper border. "PETOSKEY" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Red light accent. The bright red breakwater light is the strongest spot of color against the deep blue bay.
- Bluff-top viewpoint. A high, wide view from the railing takes in the marina, the park and the whole curve of the shore.
- Early fall maples. Orange, gold and red leaves frame the foreground walk and speckle the far hills.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Deep blue with warm autumn tones works in a cozy den, a navy bedroom or a reading corner with rust or mustard textiles. It makes a thoughtful gift for a Petoskey summer regular or anyone who grew up on Little Traverse Bay.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Petoskey? No. It is an artistic watercolor interpretation of Petoskey's waterfront, painted to capture the mood of the bay rather than every building and tree.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "PETOSKEY," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
