This Palermo watercolor print shows the golden sandstone Palermo Cathedral with its dome and bell tower, framed by palms and purple jacaranda, with Monte Pellegrino behind. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Palermo, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Thin golden washes cover the sandstone, with dense fine ink on the lace-like battlements, while jacaranda blooms are dabbed in purple and the mountain is a pale blue-violet wash. Golden sandstone and beige lead the palette, with palm green, blue-violet, jacaranda purple, a blue-and-yellow tiled dome and terracotta roofs. The cathedral spans the middle of the picture with a grey-blue dome and a bell tower joined by a great arch on the right. A forecourt of palms and a stone balustrade with statues of saints sit in the middle ground, rocky Monte Pellegrino rises at back left, and a busy street with pink and beige townhouses and iron balconies fills the foreground. Purple drips on the lower left and jacaranda in bloom mark late spring. "PALERMO" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Busy street scene. A blue three-wheeled truck, a horse-drawn carriage and a scooter share the street.
- Jacaranda in bloom. Purple jacaranda shades a café with white umbrellas.
- Majolica tile dome. A dome of blue and yellow glazed tiles adds a bright accent.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Golden beige and purple suit a bedroom, a living room with cream walls or a hallway that needs warmth. It is a thoughtful gift for someone with Sicilian roots or a traveler who loved southern Italy.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Palermo? No. This is an artistic interpretation of Palermo. The cathedral is simplified in places, for example showing one large arch toward the bell tower, so it captures the spirit of the scene rather than every detail.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "PALERMO," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
