This Mumbai watercolor print shows the Gateway of India on the Apollo Bunder waterfront, with the red-domed Taj Mahal Palace Hotel behind and ferries on Mumbai Harbour. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Mumbai, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines pick out the corner towers, stone lattice work and the hotel's rows of balconies, and harbor ripples are left as white paper in a gray-teal wash. Honey-yellow stone, gray-teal water and cream-gray hotel walls lead the palette, with the terracotta red of the hotel domes as the accent. The Gateway stands left of center with its four corner towers in the upper third, the hotel rises behind it to the right, and a crowd strolls the stone promenade across the middle. Wooden ferries and fishing boats fill the foreground, faint Colaba towers sit behind, and a flock of birds crosses the right side of the sky. "MUMBAI" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Packed harbor ferry. A white wooden ferry hung with tires carries a full load of passengers.
- Blue fishing boats. Fishermen work from small boats near the seawall.
- Promenade crowd. People stroll past iron lampposts along the waterfront.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The honey stone and sea teal suit a living room, office or entryway with navy, ochre or teak accents. It is a great gift for someone who grew up in Mumbai or is moving away from it.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Mumbai? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the Gateway of India and the harbor. Some architectural details, including the arches on the Gateway's main face, are simplified or reimagined.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "MUMBAI," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
