This Monument Valley watercolor print shows the West and East Mitten Buttes rising above red desert sand, with Merrick Butte to the right. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the valley, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine brown ink traces the vertical cracks in the buttes and the sagebrush, while warm orange washes form the red sand floor. The two Mittens, each with a tall thumb spire, stand at center on their talus slopes, seen from the valley drive looking east. Flat-topped Merrick Butte sits on the right, and a red dirt road winds across the desert. Red sand, silver sage, juniper and sandstone boulders fill the foreground. A light dusting of snow on the slopes below the buttes sets it in late winter. "MONUMENT VALLEY" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Pickup and rider. A white pickup on the dirt road and a rider on horseback add a Western touch.
- Snow on red rock. White snow on the talus slopes contrasts with rust-red stone.
- Violet distant mesas. Purple mesas and lavender clouds soften the warm desert palette.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Its rust reds and sage greens fit a Western-style living room, a cabin or an office with leather, wool and wood. It's a thoughtful gift for a road-tripper, a fan of classic Westerns or someone who drove the valley loop.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Monument Valley? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Monument Valley, and the snow and some smaller details are rendered freely.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "MONUMENT VALLEY," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
