This Montreal watercolor print shows the twin towers of Notre-Dame Basilica rising over Place d'Armes, with Mount Royal behind. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Montreal, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine brown-grey ink lines pick out the Gothic facade, laid over thin, clear washes on the stone. The palette is limestone grey and warm beige with fresh greens, copper green on a domed roof, and touches of geranium pink-red and blue at the edges. The basilica sits at the center, seen straight on across the square, with the Maisonneuve Monument in the middle ground to the right and Mount Royal in blue-violet behind. A pale blue sky with soft clouds leaves plenty of white paper, and the left edge melts into pink-red washes with long drips. Leafy trees and flower beds in bloom set the scene in early summer. "MONTREAL" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Street life on the square. A dark red calèche, an accordion player in a hat and a café with yellow umbrellas fill the plaza.
- Detailed Gothic facade. The basilica front is drawn with denser, sharper ink detail than the rest of the scene.
- Stone and leaf palette. Grey limestone and beige balance fresh greens, with pink-red geraniums as the accent.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The grey, beige and green tones sit easily in a living room or entryway with neutral walls and natural wood. It makes a thoughtful gift for someone who studied or once lived in Montreal.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Montreal? No. This is an artistic interpretation of Montreal, painted in a watercolor style. A few surrounding buildings and street details are added or rearranged to suit the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "MONTREAL," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
