This Montpelier watercolor print shows the gold-domed Vermont State House in fresh snow, with the wooded hills of Hubbard Park rising right behind it. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Montpelier, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Snow is left as white paper with cool blue-violet shadows, and the dome is washed in warm, glowing gold. Snowy pines are layered in deep green flecked with white, bare trees are drawn in thin ink, and the left and lower edges blend blue, violet and orange with drips at both lower corners and splatter around a white paper border. The granite State House with its six Doric columns and statue-topped dome sits at center, reaching into the upper third, with red brick and white clapboard buildings and a church steeple along State Street. A snowy lawn with a curving path, bare maples and a monument fills the foreground in winter. "MONTPELIER" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- A winter scene. Fresh snow, bare maples and cool shadows give the print a quiet, wintry calm.
- Gold dome glow. The gilded dome is the warmest note against snow white and pine green.
- Skiing the lawn. A cross-country skier glides across the lawn as a dog bounds through the snow.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Snow white, icy blue and pine green suit a bedroom, an entryway, a ski lodge or a living room with cozy knits and wood. It is a thoughtful holiday gift or a present for a Vermonter living far from home.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Montpelier? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Montpelier in winter, painted to share the feeling of the capital in snow rather than an exact street view.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "MONTPELIER," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
