This Montgomery, Alabama watercolor print looks up Dexter Avenue from Court Square Fountain to the white Alabama State Capitol on its hill. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Montgomery, Alabama, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Spray from the fountain is drawn as white paper lines, while the cast-iron tiers are painted in deep blue-black with clear ink outlines. White dogwoods and pink flowering trees are laid in with soft wet washes, and the left edge runs into pink drips with yellow and blue splatters around a white paper border. The Capitol, with its six-column portico and dome, sits at the end of the avenue with the dome reaching into the upper third, a red brick church with a tall spire on the left and Victorian brick shops with awnings on the right. The tiered fountain with a classical statue and an iron fence fills the foreground on a mid-spring day. "MONTGOMERY" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Straight-up-the-avenue view. Dexter Avenue climbs in a single line toward the Capitol, pulling the eye to the dome.
- Fountain in the foreground. A tiered cast-iron fountain with a statue on top anchors the bottom of the print.
- Dogwoods in bloom. White dogwood and pink blossoms brighten the greens and the brick red storefronts.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.

- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The green, white and soft pink palette suits an entryway, a formal dining room or a study with navy or cream accents. It is a meaningful gift for someone who grew up in Montgomery or a graduate heading off to work in the state capital.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Montgomery, Alabama? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Montgomery, and a few buildings are simplified or reimagined, including the brick church near the Capitol.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "MONTGOMERY," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
