This Lunenburg watercolor print shows the barn-red fishing sheds of the Lunenburg waterfront, with Old Town's colorful houses climbing the hill and the Bluenose II schooner in the harbor. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the Nova Scotia town, not an exact view.
About the artwork
The sheds and hillside houses are drawn in dense, detailed ink and layered with clear washes, and the harbor is blue with white paper ripples and red reflections. Seen across the harbor from the golf course hillside, the large red sheds with white trim stand on wharves in the middle ground. Behind them, yellow, blue and green houses of Old Town stack up the hill to the church steeples and the turreted Lunenburg Academy at the top. The black-hulled Bluenose II, flying a Canadian flag, sails on the water while a small fishing boat passes, with sloping grass and white wildflowers in front in high summer. Yellow and blue splashes with a drip soften the lower left inside a white paper border. "LUNENBURG" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Bluenose II schooner. The black-hulled tall ship with its high masts sails right through the harbor.
- Barn-red waterfront. The row of red fishing sheds makes a bold band of color across the middle.
- Hilltop Lunenburg Academy. The turreted school crowns the hill above the colorful Old Town houses.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

Styling it at home
Barn red, harbor blue and grass green suit a nautical den, a dining room or an entry hall with white trim. It is a fitting gift for a sailor, a fan of Canadian maritime history or anyone who walked Lunenburg's steep streets.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Lunenburg? No. It is an artistic watercolor interpretation of the Lunenburg waterfront and Old Town, painted to capture the character of the harbor rather than an exact layout.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "LUNENBURG," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
