This Ketchikan watercolor print shows the colorful wooden houses of Creek Street on their pilings above Ketchikan Creek, with snowy Deer Mountain beyond. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Ketchikan, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines draw every cross brace of the boardwalk on its stilts, while the rushing creek is left as white paper with turquoise streaks. Mossy rocks bloom green and yellow, the painted houses are flat washes with ink outlines, and drips and pink-violet blooms run from the lower left. The palette is deep Sitka spruce green and turquoise-white water, accented with red, yellow, blue and mint houses and pink hanging baskets. The boardwalk and its row of houses run diagonally from the left toward the center, seen from the creek bed, with an arched wooden footbridge in the middle, a wooded hillside with houses and a long wooden stairway on the right, Deer Mountain behind, and whitewater over mossy stones in front. It is late summer, during the salmon run. "KETCHIKAN" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Leaping salmon. Salmon jump upstream through the white rapids.
- Eagle and floatplane. A bald eagle swoops low as a floatplane and gulls cross the sky.
- Painted stilt houses. Red, yellow, blue and mint homes with hanging flower baskets line the creek.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The bright house colors against spruce green bring life to a kitchen, a kids' room or a cozy entry. It is a great keepsake from an Alaska cruise or a gift for an angler who dreams of the salmon run.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Ketchikan? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Ketchikan, arranged to show the boardwalk, creek and mountain together.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "KETCHIKAN," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
